Mount Pelion is the summer residence of the gods of Olympus and the house of the Centaurs (mythical creatures which were half-men and half- horses. It has 24 traditional villages, the most famous of which are: Portaria, Makrinitsa, Milies, Vyzitsa, Kala Nera, Afyssos and Tsakarada.
